“On another visit to the Namib sand dunes, a herd of sturdy and agile oryx galloped by on the golden sands, right in front of me. I quickly sketched a few strokes in my drawing book to capture the graceful movements of this animal, noted down my feelings at that moment in time as well as the colours surrounding me. Going through these notes in my studio later transports me back to the scene and helps me express my feelings in my paintings.”

“In the thirty years of painting elephants, wildlife and other scenes, I have grown to appreciate our environment. Deep within me I feel a tinge of sadness at the way man has exploited nature, often recklessly, and disturbed nature’s delicate ecological balance. We must do our utmost to protect our environment and mother earth before it is too late. I hope my paintings, in Chinese brush stroke, will evoke the feeling of love for wildlife and the need to preserve the endangered species and the environment, thus leading to a harmonious living for all on our planet earth.”
