INTRODUCTION

Miao Hua Chinese Art Society is a newly formed Society dealing with Chinese painting / calligraphy. Miao Hua is a term derived from the Buddhist philosophy which means "plentyu of flowers blossom at the same time". This also reflects the human's artistic talent developing similar to the endless blossom of flowers.

In 1975, during a visit to the then Nanyang University, our mentor, Mr. Leong Chun Hong has consulted prof Wong Shui Wu about the meaning of Miao Hua and was praised forgiving the abouve explanation.
Mr. Stephen Leong Chun Hong, our art teacher manages his own art studio and has actively participated in the art field for more than 30 years. He has held 15 solo art exhibitions both locally and overseas and has won several awards. The recent award was the first prize winner of the "Chinese ink catagory" of the UOB's 13th apinting of the year competition held in 1994.

Members of the Society and other fellow learners gather together to learn, practice, discuss and research on the Chinese painting and calligraphy once a week. With his experienced way of teaching and creativity, the number of students has increased year by year.
The Miao Hua studio established since 1992 has grown steadily over the last few years. With the support and encouragement of Mr. Leong, the Miao Hua Chinese Art Society was officially registered on 23 january 1995.
