PERFORMING ARTS GROUP - NANYANG SCHOOLS' ALUMNI ASSOCIATION CHOIR

INTRODUCTION
The Nanyang Schools Alumni Choir was established in 1995 by a group of alumni with a passion for choral singing.
Every Saturday afternoon, these former students and friends would gather at the school campus for a time of fun, fellowship and vocal training sessions. The Choirs’ objective is to promote an appreciation for Choral music while establishing contact among its Alumni members. Throughout the years, the Choir had actively participated in various celebrations and fund-raising activities of the Alumni Association and Schools in support of its Alma Mater.
Since its establishment, three major choral concerts have been held in collaboration with Nanyang’s Founder’s Day celebrations. Most notably, the “Nanyang Talent Night” concert held in 2004 at the Esplanade Concert Hall involved members of the Nanyang family, overseas alumni and students of the three Schools in a join effort to celebrate the spirit of kinship, companionship and camaraderie that marked the occasion
The Choir has participated in numerous choral concerts, of which include the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Singapore Choral Festivals and the 1st and 2nd “Thousands Voices Choral Performance”. As part of a cultural exchange event in 2005, the Choir was involved in an overseas performance in China with the Suzhou Wunon Female Choir.
Under the baton of conductor Mr. Chiew Keng Hoon, the Choir has accomplished many outstanding achievements. It was awarded the Gold Medal in the 2003 Singapore Choral Competition; members Ms Goh Soo Meng received an Award of Excellence in the 2004 National School Alumni Karaoke Competition and Ms Lim Lay Ngoh received the Silver Medal for the 2005 National “Chang Chin Bei” Solo Competition.
In 2008, the baton changed hands to Ms Lee Mew Shing who reinforced the vocal techniques of the Choir with intensive training sessions. These sessions bore fruits and the Choir bagged a gold medal in the 2009 Singapore International Chinese Choral Festival.
南洋中小幼校友合唱团简介
南洋中小幼校友会合唱团于1995年成立,一群热爱唱歌的校友们,每星期六下午在南洋校园进行声乐歌唱练习.合唱团以联系校友,提升合唱水准,提倡优雅生活及協助母校为宗旨.多年来积极参与母校的庆典和筹款活动.
合唱团成立至今,参與母校庆典,主办过三场大型演出及多场小型音乐歌唱晚会;2004年”璀璨南洋”音乐会是联合海外校友及南洋三校学生在滨海艺术中心演出的大型音乐会.
合唱团对外以歌会友,活耀于我国合唱界,积极参与各重要音乐演出,曾参與第五,六,七,八届”新加坡合唱节”,”千人大合唱”,遠赴中国参加”新中文化交流”演出.
合唱团在周炯训老师指導下,成绩斐然..2003年在新加坡合唱比赛中荣获金牌奖.吴淑明副团长及林丽娥团长各获得2004年全国校友会卡拉ok优秀奬及2005年全国独唱长青杯亜軍.
合唱团将在今年7月参加南洋三校为母校八十九周年校庆于滨海艺术中心主办的“璀灿南洋2大型歌唱晚会.
李妙璇老师由２００８年起担任合唱团的指挥及声乐指导，加强声乐训练。 合唱团在２００９新加坡国际合唱节勇夺金奖。
