Introduction

 

INTRODUCTION

As the very first Ruan orchestra in the world, the Ruan Ensemble strives to raise the bar for Chinese ethnic music performance and enhance appreciation of the art form. With this in mind, the Ruan Ensemble committed to commissioning four new pieces to be performed at their annual concert in 2008; and holding an exchange programme with the Beijing Conservatory Ruan Ensemble in 2010.

With the funding it received from the APB Foundation, the Ruan Ensemble successfully staged its 2008 concert performed by over 100 local performers. In 2009, the group worked with schools to increase students’ knowledge about Ruan music and provided them with stage experience. Ruan music also received a boost through two public performances held during the same year.

 

丁晓燕阮协会简介

著名阮演奏家/指挥丁晓燕，1995年来新定居，此后15年里，她为本地阮乐发展作出重大贡献。是她首开先河，创立了新加坡也是全世界的第一支阮族乐团，淡滨尼阮族乐团。以单一的阮乐器组成乐团在当时的华乐届前所未有，丁晓燕独具慧眼，看准阮有高音阮、小阮、中阮、大阮和低音阮之分，覆盖音域广阔，表现力丰富，具备了组建阮族乐团的条件。

多年来，淡滨尼阮族乐团从只有七名成员，发展到今天30多名成员。在丁晓燕的领导下，乐团举办了上百场演出，包括1997年远赴大陆在北京音乐厅呈献的“阮之夜”等海内外多场高水准的专场音乐会，受到国内外华乐界的认同。2000年，丁晓燕又创立了丁晓燕阮协会，以进一步联系国内外的阮演奏家和阮乐爱好者，并凝集阮乐界名家来共同弘扬和推广阮艺。协会曾在维多利亚音乐厅呈献《阮中情》大型音乐会，演出人员逾百人，将新加坡阮乐的发展推向高峰。
